Community Service

Ever since sixth grade, I have participated in Silicon Valley Youth (SVY). This 65-member non-profit organization teaches students in the local community, and uses those proceeds to help underprivileged students. We have raised $270,000 through teaching and benefited 80,000 students in total. As the President of SVY, I oversee all aspects of funding, operations, and marketing. SVY has taught me what it means to be a leader and an organizer. https://www.SiliconValleyYouth.com

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the Santa Clara County in March of 2020, many at-risk individuals began worrying about the personal safety and health.  I, with two friends, started Bay Area Mask to donate a handful of masks to my grandparents’ church. Thanks to the community and over thirty families who helped out, BAM was able to make 2,000 reusable masks for hospitals, senior homes, schools, and essential workers. Santa Clara County Mental Health Youth Advisory Group

After overcoming my own struggles with mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, I felt the need to lend a helping hand to the community. I joined the Santa Clara County Mental Health Youth Advisory Group, and am currently one of the 5 members at the School Services Committee. The committee created educational curriculum and resources for mental health services in local 102  schools. I help coordinate the resources for local school districts to combat the stigma surrounding mental health.

Teaching Overseas

In the summers of 2018 and 2019, I traveled to the beautiful mountains of Sichuan, China. However, I was not there to enjoy the scenery, but to help teach English as well as other subjects to the students there. Even though those students lived a life that I could not imagine, I was glad to teach them to not be inhibited by their perception of their socioeconomic status.
